Chapter 2: "The Unexpected"

Hi humans,
          I'm sorry for not posting anything these past few weeks. I'd been so very dead busy. I have my final examination going on. I'm here to post the chapter two of the story "The Unexpected". So, I didn't have time to sleep just to finish this chapter. HAHA!
          The truth is that, I'm actually on my bed, all comfy. Then I remember my classmate Vanessa Montemayor's story about her that just happened last Friday, and that inspires me a lot to write this chapter. HAHA! So, here it goes.... :)

Chapter 2: "The Unexpected"

“Ace, come on! Kyle is having his surprise party” ani Todd na kababata ni Ace na kararating lang sa kanyang opisina.

     “Yeah, I know. Kaya nga minamadali ko na ‘tong mga papers na ‘to.” Tukoy ni Ace sa mga trabahong nakasalampak sa mesa.

     “Wow! nagbabagong buhay ka na ba bro? We actually expect na nasa sariling condo mo na ikaw ngayon, cause of the party tonight.” Ani Bryce na umupo sa may sofa.

     “We made a bet actually.” Pahabol ni Todd.

     “Shut up you two!” tumatawang sabi ni Ace.

     Kyle, Todd and Bryce are his best friends. Kyle is the owner of the Ocampo Electronics and Gadgets.  Todd is the owner of the Lorenzo Super Malls which is now having lots of branches nationwide.  Bryce is the owner of the famous Villegas Hotel and Restaurants. And as for him, he’s the owner of the Montenegro Airline.

     “Hindi ko talaga alam kung paano ko kayo naging kaibigan.

“Admit it Ace, kauri ka din kasi namin.” Ani Todd sa kanya.

     “Alam mo Ace maaga kang tatanda niyan, sige ka baka sa akin na tumakbo lahat nang babae mo, maawa ka naman sa kagwapuhan ko.” Segunda ni Bryce.

     “Bryce magkasingtanda lang tayo, lamang lang ako nang buwan sa inyo.” Aniya habang gumagayak paalis nang opisina.

     “Well, that makes me look more handsome.” Ani Bryce na ayaw magpatalo.

     “And that makes me more intelligent.” Natatawang balik ni Ace.

     “Tumigil na nga kayong dalawa, at malalate na tayo sa party ni Kyle baka wala na akong maabutan na pagkain.” Saway ni Todd.

     “Gutom ka nanaman? Tao ka ba o halimaw na nagkatawang tao lang?” natatawang sabi ni Bryce.

     “Magugulat ako kung busog yan.” Aniya na hindi alam ang gagawin sa dalawang kaibigan.

     Paano pa kaya kung kasama na nila si Kyle? Baka itakwil na nila ang isa’t isa kapag may makakita sa kanila sa ganitong eksena.

“HINDI ko talaga alam kung anung insekto nanaman ang nakain mo at dinala mo ako sa lugar na ‘to.” Ani Mac sa kaibigan. Dinala nanaman kasi siya ni Sam sa isang party na lahat nang dumalo ay may mga sinabi sa buhay.

     She doesn’t like formal gatherings. Para siyang naa-out of place. Hindi sa wala siyang sinabi sa buhay, ayaw niya lang kasing makisalamuha sa mga taong pataasan at payabangan lang ang alam.

     “Mac come on, you’ll like it in here.” Sabi ni Sam na halatang may hinahanap.

     “And besides hindi naman masamang dumalo sa mga ganitong gatherings kahit minsan.” Pahabol pa nito.

     “We’re not invited here remember. We gate crashed for crying out loud.” Aniya na hindi makapaniwalang sumama siya dito in the first place.

     “Relax, ok. Trust me on this.” Anito na hindi matapos ang paghahanap.

     “Who is it this time Sam?” hindi niya na napigilang itanong dito. Kilala niya si Sam. Everytime na weird itong kumilos, just like now, ay may iniistalk nanaman itong tao.

     Halatang nagulat ito sa sinabi niya at napunta sa kanya ang buong atensyon nito. “What do you mean?”

     “Come on Sam, spill it out. Hindi ako tanga and I know you very well that’s all. So, who is it?” sabi niya dito habang pinaglalaruan ang ladies drink na hawak habang nakatitig dito.

     “Damn. I hate you.” Nakangiting hindi makapaniwalang sabi ni Sam.

     Ngiti lang ang isinagot niya dito.

     Sam paused. A really, really long pause then she let out a sigh, the sign of Sam’s surrender. “Alright, it’s you-know-who.” Nakayukong pagamin nito.

     Katahimikan. Mac just stared at Sam, she doesn’t know how to react or even move a muscle.

     “Mac? Yoohoo! Still with me?” kinakabahan na sabi ni Sam na sinamahan pa nang pagkaway sa harap niya.

“What the fucking fuck! Sam! You’re just kidding right?!”aniya nang makarecover sa sinabi nito. Kulang nalang na iumpog niya si Sam sa pinakamalapit na poste para lang sabihin nitong nagbibiro lang ito.

“Calm dow−”

“Don’t you dare to say that to me! Look Sam, I don’t know what you want to him after the incident that happened three years ago−”

“Mac, listen to me−”

“No Sam. You listen to me first! I don’t know what the hell is wrong with you but the last thing you need for now is another drama.” Hindi mapigilang galit at pag-aalala na sabi ni Mac.

“Mac, listen, I love you and don’t worry okay. I know what I’m doing. And I know that you want the best for me, right?”

Hindi talaga siya makapaniwala sa nangyayari dito. After the pain that bastard gave to Sam. And speaking of the bastard, here he goes. Bryce Villegas the jerk standing right at the small platform stage having that wicked smile of his.

“You are one crazy lady Sam. I’m going home.” Hindi na niya kayang makipagtalo pa dito.

“Mac, please stay, for me?” pilit hinaharangang pagmamakaawa nito.

“Sam he hurts you so bad, and I saw it until you were wasted. And now you dragged me from home all the way here just to show me how desperate you can get?” nanghihinang kastigo niya dito. She doesn’t like the idea of seeing her best friend will go through such heartaches again or even worse.

“Bria loo−”

“Don’t call me that name, please, you know how I hate to hear that name of mine.” nanghihina paring wika niya.

“I-I’m sorry.” Halatang nagpipigil umiyak sa harap niya.

“Oh, Come on Sam. Don’t cry, you’re better than this.”

“I’m fine. But please Mac, listen to me first. I know this sounds crazy and looks bullshit but, I love him, more that you ever know and I don’t even know why. You don’t even have to remind me that he’s such an asshole because I already know it, but it doesn’t matter to me, at all. And who cares if he’s not in love with me or we can say that he never really loved me at the first place, it’s not actually his fault, it is mine, always mine.” Mangiyak-ngiyak na lathala nito sa kanya.

Now Mac feels terrible all of a sudden. Curse that man! Damn!

“So, please understand.” Sam’s close to tears, begging.

“Damn! Stop doing that! You’re making me feel like I’m the most cruel person you’ve ever met!” hindi pa rin alam kung papayag siya sa gusto nito.

“Please Mac. Ikaw lang ang kaya kong pagsabihan nito for now, even Mom and Dad doesn’t know any of this, because I know I can count on you.” Alanganin paring sambit nito.

“All right. Pero wag mong asahan na magiging mabait ako sa taong ‘yon.” Suko niya dito.

“I can live with that.” Biglang siglang sabi ni Sam sa kanya.

“But you know Sam, I still think that there’s someone better for you, you just have to look around.” Aniya.

“You know naman na I already did looked around but my heart still and will always beat only for him.” Anito na may malaking ngiti sa labi.

“Oh my god, we really have to stop now. I can’t take you looking like this and saying those words, it makes me want to puke.” She said with matching rolling her brown set of eyes.

“Maiintindihan mo din ako sissy.” Tumatawang sabi nito na hinaluan pa nang panunukso.

Inirapan niya lang ito sabay inom sa kanyang ladies drink.
